A student’s persistence and success in college is
positively impacted when he or she connects to the university. Ideally, the
student connects with and is encouraged by a faculty member. Advisors in
the College of Public Affairs and Community Service at the University of
North Texas know that our contact with students can also provide a powerful
means of support. Time constraints and growing numbers of students limits
us from building the kind of relationships at-risk students need. This
presentation will review a new intervention program, constructional student
mentoring.

Building Student Success
This is a joint effort between the Department of Behavior Analysis (Dr. Jesús
Rosales-Ruiz) and the Academic Services Director (Richard
Mabry). We are
collaborating on a new Student Mentoring program that will empower students by
helping them become aware of their own environment (make the unknown - known,
the implicit - explicit, the unaware - aware, and the unconscious - conscious)
and assist them in order to develop a program to reach their goals utilizing new
skills.
If you have any questions about this program or are interested
in participating, please send an email to info@constructionalmentors.com.
